Cultural Attachment and Indigenous Wellbeing

Updated: Dec 27, 2019

Cultural attachment is a phenomenon that is close to our hearts and our spirits. It is the very mechanism that drives us to learn about our culture and our ways of being. Culture is so powerful for us, that it provides a natural pathway to Indigenous wellbeing. Cultural attachment is a phenomenon that has long existed in our Nations and our way of knowing and being. Cultural attachment provides us with a direct link to the essence of our spirit and to all the possibilities that exist within our culture. Likewise, Indigenous wellbeing is directly linked to cultural attachment because wellbeing for us as Indigenous peoples begins with the spirit.
